With the new GCP-30 series load sharing device from Woodward Industrial Controls a new technology has been introduced. Case M&I developed the opportunity to use the main engine shaft generator of a large factory trawler to act as the main utility and the auxiliary generator units as the backup power to share electrical load. This reduced the need for replacing the generators with larger capacity units and also reduced fuel consumption as the full energy capacity of main generator can be used. The digital technology of the GCP 30 Series units allows automatic load sharing, synchronizing and breaker closure with a touch of a button.
